Footworks London
Emmaus House was delighted to have a visit from Sarah of Footworks London with her summer project, the Footworks Social.
Sarah - a qualified foot health practitioner - is on a mission to bring low cost affordable footcare to people in need across London and the South East. Throughout July, Sarah has been providing pop-up footcare clinics ? with lots of jolly chat - in parish halls, Irish Centres and retirement homes.
On the last Friday of July, Sarah set up her foot station in 3 Berrymead Gardens, to give free treatment to some of our clients. Sarah says "
Footworks Social has been funded by grants from the University of Northampton's Chancellor Fund and the Irish in Britain Group, along with donations from many Irish owned businesses.
Thanks Sarah - for giving our clients Happy Feet!
Refurbished Showers
Finding somewhere for a regular shower when you are homeless can be tough ? and facilities are even more in demand in the summer months when the weather is hot. As well as the physical benefits of being clean and stopping the spread of disease, showering gives our clients dignity and self-respect, and can be a real confidence boost.
At Emmaus House, our shower room was run down and leaky, causing the building all sorts of problems. So we are delighted to announce that thanks to the handywork of local supporters Steve and Adam, we now have two smart new beautifully tiled showers ? an no leaks!
We're so happy to be able to offer our clients showering facilities again ? and we're always grateful for donations of shower gel, shampoo and shaving items to help our clients feel and look their best.
